We've burned at least 40 cds this month and they all took 6 -10 minutes then all at once Windows Media Player started working slower and slower and now it is taking 60 - 90 minutes per cd.

There are no other windows open on the computer.

Windows Media Player is the only program running.

The recycling bin is completely empty.

That's because WMP (Windows Media Player) is the LAST program you should be using to burn CD's - it's for people who have NO OTHER OPTION...

95% of NEW CD/DVD burners come with a software bundle - usually containing either Roxio or Nero burning programs. These are FAR more powerful, faster, and easy to use - while WMP is there because sales of Windows would drop drastically if there was NO way for the average user to burn a CD ;);););)

I can help! Open your media player. Click the tools tab, then click options. This brings up the options screen. Click the devices tab. Click on the device in question (probably d: or e:) then hit properties. Click the recording tab. On the bottom of this dialog there is a write speed setting. Try setting it to fastest. If this gives you problems, set it down a notch. Make sense? Hope that helps! Also: If you have an old computer you may just have a slow cd burner. If the above doesn't help, get a replacement. Should only set you back $50. Good luck!

try using another cd burner software like Nero 8, it ususally burns my CDs in 2mins. you can get a trial download at cnet.com and then if you don't like you don't have to buy it

you can also use a converting software like Switch and it will convert WMP to MP3 or MP4.

I dont know what else to tell ya other than it sounds like your computer coudl be bogging down have you thought of putting you music on an external drive and not your C: drive?
