my computor needed to go in for repair. i was told it would take between 7 to ten days to repair. it actually took 20 days. obviousley i was not happy with it being away for 7 days let alone 20. I now have another problem and my computor needs to go away for repair. I fear the worse and know that the computor will be gone for 20 days again and i will be left without my computor. (LAPTOP) my laptop is both vital to my job and bearing in mind i am studing for my nvq 3,it is a vital tool. what can i do to get this problem sorted.

im gonna build a new comuter soon and im wondering if i should get an intel x6800, a Q66000 or wait for the 45nm Penryn intel cpu's to come out later this year. I know on july 22nd the x6800 will be half the price it is right now and same for q6600. Whats the difference between q6600 and x6800, and if its just clockspeed, cant i just overclock thee q6600?
And also whats so new about the penryn besides the die shrink and will the performance boost be real dramatic?
And also what about amd's barcelona processors coming out, what do u think about those?
The restriction is that i dont want to pay more than $500 for the processor though. Im going to use it for 3d rendering and pc gaming.

when i run 3d 06, it always crashes on the 3rd test with the water monster thing whilst on the load screen. sometimes i get an nv4 dll error but most of the time it just sits at the frozen stage. im running two 7600's in sli and when using one card it works fine, and ive swapped both cards round to check they aint faulty. 3d 05 and 03 work fine, as do all my games so why 06? i have the 93.71 driver, 500w psu, 4200 x2, 2gb ram. any ideas?? or does 3d 06 just not do sli!

hey, got laptop off uncle as he wants me to reinstall xp due to the "system file missing" so it wont boot to windows, i cant make it boot from a disc until i alter bios boot setup, but its password protected!
ive tried all generic passwords and random words!
you cant just take out the battery(bios) like on a desktop pc
How can i bypass it?

I had someone say the other day that if I had a file open on a network drive that it would prevent other users from accessing the drive at all. Is that true? I have never heard or experienced this before since I opened up a file on the drive it was on and it told me it was being edited by another user and I could only look at the document. Could you please tell me of a situation(s) that this could happen when someone is on a network drive?

My pc is: Compaq Presario 1800 xl186 notebook

I wanted to update my rom as HP gave update link here:

But while updating bios from diskette pc frozen again and update didnt complete. So now bios is died.

When i click power button there is only a black screen there.. No sound nothing on screen..

is there anyway to write bios again by cd or diskette??? Or any other advice??

I'm wanting to upgrade my Compaq Presario C509 notebook memory which is currently 512MB. I was browsing through best buy and came upon a PNY 1GB memory on sale for $44.99 at Best Buy. Should I or should I not? I've never dealt with memory upgrades so I don't really know what to look for as for brands. Whats your opinion?

I was assigned to make a connection between two sites (A & B) with 512kbps dedicated lease line. Site A (2 DCs) and Site B (1 DC) integrated with Sites and Services configurations. Site A is at 192.168.0.x whereas Site B is at 192.168.3.x. DHCP server is at Site A's DC2. My question is how do I configure the DHCP Server so that the clients in Site B can obtain 192.168.3.x instead of 192.168.0.x? DHCP Superscope? How do I configure both end of the lease line routers? I just downloaded Sims 1 yesterday and started to play it today. The opening works, but when it hits the option screen, this Send Error Report message comes. I know this happens a lot when you play computer games and even when you go online.

Im thinking of installing Zone Alarm because pop-ups let you know what pograms are trying to access the net and let you decide. But im told its a Firewall and Windows already has one switched on as default. Do they run together or is Windows Firewall best turned off.
