Which desktop printer would you buy if cartridge replacement cost was a main factor provided printing is still adequate.

I do use a printer now for which you buy the color cartridges separately, but they still cost $25-30 each. Looking for something a little less pricey.

A laser printer.

Cost per page on B/W lasers is much less than for inkjets.

If you need colour, then I would look at the cost per page given on the review sites like PC world or C-net.

The other thing to consider is getting a printer with multiple colour cartridges. Then when the cyan runs out you just replace the cyan ink, not the partially full magenta or yellow.

I will rather go for a laser printer. It's cost effective and performs better.
