I just upgraded from 1.5MBps to 3.0 Mbps. But I still can't feel the difference.
Thanks..

while youve doubled your speed.. its honestly not that much, and once your over a certain speed it doesent matter anyways. your speed is still maxed by how clean/optimized the computer is.. as far as browsing websites you may or may not see a difference, because once your on a high speed connection of any decent speed your to the point your at the mercy of the server your connecting to. ie its speed of proccessing your request doesent get better just because your connection does. you still go through the same dns servers and everything. The only place you will really be able to tell a difference is in downloading large files and gaming.. not day to day web browsing in most instances..

as for speedtests, any of the above are good.. the best would be one provided by your isp though because those dont have to deal with internet traffic and give you your best case connection speed.. non isp ones just give you your average.

It depends on when you did the upgrade -

Usually it takes a few days for DSL providers to up your speed and optimize the connection. Wait about a week and run a speed test here:

If it still does not look right (look for around 2400kbps to 2600kbps - thats usually what a 3.0mbps connection will get) then give them a call.

You can also check the internet for tweaks on your computer's MTU settings which SOMETIMES affect your internet speed.

DSL is nice... 768k is the minimum and lowest cost... but you can get 3 mbps...... up to 5 even I think, perhaps even more speed. I love dsl. 100 times better than dial up. sure, cable is faster, but cable is too expensive.

Go to a command prompt and ping several other addresses. The average should give you a pretty good feel for your net speed.
