Like anti virus solutions, you should not run two firewalls on a single system... they can interfere with each other.
The Windows firewall is pretty much no use by default on XP... as it is too open.

It will run along side but there is little point to running the two of them. I always find that external programs like zone alarm cause a general slowdown my computer. Obviously for things to make there way onto your computer it will take slightly longer because there is an extra process. If you have got an older computer you may find this. Zone alarm is likely to be a more comprehensive firewall in comparison to windows version contrary to Microsoft's current operating systems boasts which claim "the most secure system ever". Computing is all about trial and error. Try running the two together. If you start to receive alot of error prompts or if they seem to clash then turn off the windows firewall and see how it runs. People should always remember that the best way to prevent problems is to be mindful of the websites you visit. Be wary of automatic links and downloads and never allow anything to upload onto your computer unless you expected it.

You would want to turn off the Windows Firewall. Zone Alarm is so much more powerful you will not need (or want) to have the Windows Firewall running at the same time.

You can not run two firewall. Go to your control panel and where you see "security center", open and turn off your Windows Firewall in favor of Zone Alarm. ZoneAlarm, is an excellent firewall. Plus you get two way protection from rogue prots trying to send data into your pc and protection of your private data leaving your pc. Windows firewall, you only have one way protection traffic coming in and not protected by outgoing data. Perhaps the blue screen is caused by the fact that you are trying to run two firewall and there is conflict. Same as you can only run one antivirus or you will have conflict with your system. Turn off the Window's firewall, it,s about as much use as rubber frying pan. The Zone Alarm is excellent, I have used it for about 3 years now, and it really does a good job, and is not at all intrusive or 'heavy handed' like Norton for example.
