all I get is their little player screen with a green background on both sites. I can hear the sound, but cannot get the picture to show. At other sites, such as ESPN, I have no problem.
I followed CNN suggestion for fixing this if it happens, but had no luck. Any suggestions?

I have an hp laserjet 2200dn. It has automatic duplex printing. When I depress the print button it will do this but not when I'm printing a document. I've read the online manual without being able so solve the problem.

I'm running XP using the USB connection. I've downloaded the latest driver from the HP site.

The printer was purchased as a refurbished model.

I just went to Fry's Electronics (a West Coast electronics warehouse). I was looking for LCD monitors for my PC. I was price conscious and the sales guy told me the monitor I was interested in had real low contrast ratio. I asked him what it meant and he just told me it was better to have higher contrast ratio. I told him I wanted a monitor that was going to "last" and be durable without burning out anytime soon.

He told me that the higher contrast ratio LCD's would last longer. Is this true? Or is he the typical Fry's sales guy who doesn't really know too much. Thanks.

We currently do not use Shop Floor control, so the routing operations are not in use yet. The system part numbers use a suffix code, but there is no consistency in it's use. So for example, if we chose to use a suffix code in the 900's, there may already be part numbers using that suffix and we don't want to implement a system that limits the ability to issue new part numbers as more outside processed items are added. Any ideas on how to get around this?

I had to create an application once that had potential new records coming in for the same table from multiple distributed databases, that merged together with manual replication.

I started with Integer ID's, but quickly realized I had to use UniqueIdentifiers to avoid conflicting ID values.

So I got into the habit of ALWAYS using UID's in tables vs. integer ID's. And later I met an expert SQL programmer who said I was doing the right thing for larger systems, and that it was a good habit to develop.

But I still see a lot of other SQL database developers still using integer ID's, even by expert, long-time SQL developers.

So what's the "best practice"?

When is it preferable to use integer based ID's vs UID's?

I got a Wifi Network and I use a desktop and a laptop with it.
I feel that some one is accessing it and using up bandwidth since the combined bandwidth at any given point of time on both the pcs is arnd 176 kbps when it should be around 256 kbps. (both my pcs are located close to the Wifi router so theres negligible loss of speed)

When I switch to a laptop will it work with that too?

If I use one should I still back up to CD/DVD?

What should I look for when buying one?

Thanks!

I am going through a few tutorials for php and I had to complicate one of the examples by adding a for..loop and I can't figure out why it won't work. Can someone figure it out?

$names = array("Peter", "Quagmire", "Joe");

$namesCount = count($names);

for($i=0; $i<$namesCount; $i+=1)
{
echo $names[i] . " ";
}

My friend harps on about a shareware/freeware program he's downloaded that automatically frees up memory whenever it goes above a certain point. I always thought that memory automatically freed itself up if it was not being used, or was automatically used by another process if the original process was terminated.

Are these MemBooster/MemClear/RamBuster programs actually worthwhile, or are they the computing equivalent of snake oil?
