Macintosh is way better. There's no viruses/spyware, it's great for media (iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, iWeb, Garageband-all a part of the package on the mac called (go figure) iLife). It's also good for work things because it can run stuff like MS office, which you can trade files from a PC through (so if you have a MS Word document on a PC, you can put it on a flashdrive, plug into your Mac, and open it in MS Word for Mac). And unlike what people are saying, there is a lot of good software for Mac (they just don't show it at "Best Buy", being that they suck when it comes to Mac). One good place for software is a website called www.macupdate.com people make a lot of good software for Mac and then put it on this website. Some people sell it, some give it then ask for donations, but a lot of people give it for free. So people do in fact write lots of software for mac, they are much more secure, and in 8 years, you'll still be able to keep up with the latest Mac OS. I'm running a PowerMac G4 right now and it's running Mac OS 10.4 "tiger" (the latest of the Mac OS), and it's running just fine.

Macs are definitely the superior machine.
However, if you want to USE your computer, you'll need one that people actually write software for. So, I'd get a PC.

if you want to do graphic design or video processing then go for a mac
if you want to do everyday stuff or play games then go for a pc
as macs have less software available for it.
...also macs are a pain (and expensive) to upgrade
oh and there are virus's that can affect macs just not as many as for pcs

are you tech savvy & like spending your time trying to troubleshoot your computer? then get a windows PC.
if you just want to be productive, don't mind paying a premium, & not having access to a large slug of software (such as games, etc.), then get a Mac.
