I live in Orlando and I'm going down to Key West for a week. On the way down we'll be stopping by the beach for a few hours and I'm just wondering if my laptop is going to be ok in my car while at the beach. Thank you !:)

keep it under the seat so its out of the sun and i would recomend using a windsheild shade to keep the heat out too.

If your laptop is on show o hte case, it is more than likely going to get stolen. If the car gets too hot, you would have to leave hte laptop alone for a little while to cool down, and there is a possibility that the intrnal Hardware would get damaged. When a compture is on, there is a thermostat, which controls how hot it gets, and turns then fans on to a hoigher setting, or switches off the computer itself. When the laptop is on, it will not work so you r computer will get hotter and hotter.

When the hardrive and other components gets too hot, any small plastic components will start to melt, and also little components are really heat sensitive and are likelyt to break internally.

My advice, don't take it with you at all, leave it at home, or, leave it in the coolest, most concealed placein your car.

Please do not leave any electronics in your car while at the beach. This is how I ruined a camera while on vacation. I placed it under towels and not in the light, but because of the heat build-up in the car, it had an LCD screen that boiled up and never worked right again.

Heat is the computer enemy. Try to leave it in a cool spot. If can not, wait until the laptop become fully cool before turning it back on.

just checked my manual... it says not over 122F (50C). On a sunny day a car's temp can rise about 40 degrees over outside temp (actually, according to a couple articles I read it can get up to 110F inside). --- (I googled "car summer interior temperature")

my question; you going to the beach for God's sake, what do you need your laptop for?!

Empress,
Electronics are very sensitive to heat, but if you put it in the trunk out of the sunlight I think it would be fine, never leave any electronic device in the sun.

You timed it? Anyway no it can get damaged, hoping you dont go to the artic beach, the sheer humidity can damage the internal circuitry of your lab top, its safer just to leave it at home.

I'd say put it in the trunk- not only is there not a lot of light...but if you put it right where someone can see t, you're more prone to gettig your car broken into.

Depends on how hit it gets where you are but, generally it's not a good idea.
