As far as I know this modem is a mobile broadband modem and it requires a O2 data sim card and a contract. See the below link

There are 2 general types of modems.

The original ones were designed to interface with a dial in analog phone line. Dial Up ISPs still use these. You need to have a Dial Up ISP to connect your modem to the Internet with these and they use the phone line.

Cable TV (CATV) Internet service and DSL Internet service came later. These use a broadband modem of one type or another. The broadband modem links to the CATV feed or the DSL feed (phone line actually because DSL uses the phone line on a different frequency than voice line). If you have CATV for Internet, you do not need a phone line as the cable tv feed provides internet service. If you have DSL, you need a phone line. Of course for this to work you need, in addition to a modem, either CATV Internet service as your ISP or phone company DSL Service as your ISP.

Finally, a broadband modem can be a DSL modem or a CATV modem. I do not believe a DSL designed modem can be adapted for CATV or vice versa because the signal frequencies are different.

The Nikon E 2200 box is designed for CATV applications from my research so you need an Internet account from your local CATV provider. Finally, just because the E 2200 is designed for CATV it does not mean that it will work with your CATV provider because he may be using a propriatery protocol or frequency. If this is the case you may not be able to use the E 2200.
