I am ordering a new computer (Dell XPS 410 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo w/ 4GB memory) and i use my computer mostly for music and the internet, dont' really play games. is it worth the money ($100) to upgrade from the integrated 7.1 audio dell provides to the soundblaster X-Fi Xtrememusic card?

I want to put a 500 GB hard drive in my new computer, (Dell XPS 410 with a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB memory) but i'm wondering if the bigger drive will cause a slow down if the power supply can't handle it anyone know anything about this?

I NEVER game on my machine so thats not an issue, but i do watch lots of movies and do a lot with photos on my computer so a good graphics card will help me do what i want to do.
Is the nVidia Geforce 7300LE or ATI Radeon X1300 Pro a better card for me?

I'm getting a Dell XPS 410 with 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM. i want to upgrade to the ATI Radeon X1300 Pro from the nVidia GeForce 7300LE and the Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme music card from the integrated 7.1 audio. will these upgrades slow my performance or help it? Please help me haw can I get to Settings ond start menu... How do I link to restore point... I don't have a desktop anymore. So I need to go to settings so I can restore, but I need the exact address on explorer. Because all I can use is explorer now. But I can not even see the start menu... Thanks...

Looking to see if the new Windows Vista is totally it, and the "wanted" or to stick with XP for a "no change". I plan to build a computer and need to decide between the 2. People are telling me to go with XP, but those people dont know much about computers...

I do play City of Heroes (MMORPG).. Not even sure if it works on Vista.. but lets pretend it does..

Opinions matter.. but the reason why matters the most to me.

This has happened this past week and it keeps doing it... these windows keep popping up saying "Symantec email proxY' and it says your message to -----@---.com (random emails) could not be sent and literally hundreds of these windows keep popping up every 2 seconds (literally hundreds) and its soooo annoying! whats going on?

Hi,

I bought my laptop last week and I had no problems until yesterday when it decided to start playing up. When I turn it on the Xp logo just loads for hours on end and it never finishes, but it does boot in safe mode.
Because the laptops so new I haven't made a backup copy and the I can't use the system console on the Xp Disk cause I haven't got it.

Does any one have any idea what I should do?

I have a gateway desktop computer with dsl (from phone company). I have a linksys router. I have a new HP laptop that automatically searches out the wireless system in my home. I am getting a new xbox 360. I need to network my laptop(so I can send email and use my printer from my laptop) and my xbox (so I can go online to play games and such). After some fiddling about with the settings (for experimental purposes you understand!) and believing there would always be 'System Restore' to save me, of course it wasn't!

I have tried recovery disk and reinstall from original CD but zilch.

Using a floppy Boot Disk I can get to A:> but cannot format C from there so I guess the OS must be really unhappy with me.

I am hoping that there is a way to reformat that HDD and ask if any expert here can help me please?

It is possible I have been using the wrong syntax by the way and I have to admit that 13 years ago I was fairly happy with MSDOS, but age is catching up with me now (well into 70s) so maybe I was overconfident. Not maybe, of course I was.
I am seeing the Windows splash screen but quickly this becomes the blue screen with

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_ something

forgotten the rest, sorry, at some stages.
