Hi,

I bought my laptop last week and I had no problems until yesterday when it decided to start playing up. When I turn it on the Xp logo just loads for hours on end and it never finishes, but it does boot in safe mode.
Because the laptops so new I haven't made a backup copy and the I can't use the system console on the Xp Disk cause I haven't got it.

Does any one have any idea what I should do?

Regards

If it boots in safe mode, it is probably some form of malware, that has slipped through your security system. There is not a 100% safe sytem. There are some registry fixing programs, but generally the safest thing to do is re intall. XP installing disks can be bought, but not from the main stores, you will probably have to go to asmaller secialist shop for it, and it is a useful investment, but they are expensive.

The other alternative is to abandon windows and load a linux distro. You get a good 90% of what you can do with windows, plus a bit more. Basically if it is free you can have it, if it is not then you can't. And as they constantly pinch ideas off each other, you will find much that is familiar.

There are a number of distros and there is usually one available for from the latest linux magazine.

you computer "laptop" cant be that new, for computers are now sold with vista installed on them unless you brought old stock in which case you wont be able to buy Windows XP installation CD-ROM software as they have all been taken of the shelves, was it going cheap by any chance.
