I would just like to hear some opinions and personal experiences on the whole "American vs import" debate. I've owned three American cars and been pretty happy with them but I like to keep an open mind.

my car charger wouldn't charge my GPS. I plug it into the slot, but the indicator light on the cable doesn't turn on, and my GPS ran out of battery.

is there anything that I need to do to use the car charger?

Looking for instructions on how to convert an alternator to a small welder. I'm having trouble locating the ones I know exist. This topic was discussed in depth in one of the International Harvester forum boards, but I haven't found it yet. I can't remember which one. OldIHC.org, BinderBulletin, ???????? Someone hit the back of my car and put a crack in the bumper & minor dent in the tailgate. The assesor says it purely cosmetic and can be fixed if I choose to live with the dented tail (you'd never notice it!) & get a new bumper. Or, I can choose to have it classed as a total loss & they will give me some money. The car is valued at £850. So, how much are they likely to give me? What are the implications of this? Do I need to get a new MOT. Will some companies refuse to insure it, or charge me more???

Seriously, in this day in age, how can someone possibly justify buying a large truck (Except if they REALLY need one for work...)? Is it the power they feel? Is it the fact that they don't want their children to understand or enjoy gasoline? is it because they just don't give a f***? What's the deal? I would be embarrassed to drive some huge truck home. It would be like saying, "Hey guys, look at me!! I have no concept of what is happening in the world right now!! I'm a jack-***!! Hooray!!"

If I didnt shift to 1st in the beginning and im rolling downhill in neutral and going 20mph can I just shift it to 2nd instead of 1st or do have do the 1st gear clutch out and gas in.

so i got a Bull **** speeding ticket, on the freeway by a hgihway patrol, and it was a speed trap, it was 75 then bam 65 and he pulls me over saying i was going 80 which i wasnt but when i ask to see the radar gun very politley he ignores me, then i ask 3 more times and he just keeps ignoring me, then walks away. my 2 friends were in the car and even my friend in the back seat yelled out the window hey can he see the radar gun which he still ignored. im gonna fight it cause i so wasnt speeding. what is the best defence i could use against this guy if he shows up to court. could i use that in my defence?

I'm driving a '00 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi (supercharged for those who don't know), and I'd like to get a better tone out of it. I have Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flows on there right now. They sound ok, but I'm looking for a deeper, more...growly tone. Is there any way I can make my car sound a little tougher? I'd like it to sound like a nice Mustang or Camaro. Not insanely loud, but definitely a more aggressive tone. Any ideas?
