Premium gas or regular unleaded? Is one really better than the other? Is it worth it to spend a few more $$? Also the same question applies for conventional oil vs.synthetic?

As other posters, depends on the car, most cars run fine on regular.
As for oil, as long as you keep up with regular changes conventional is fine. Regarding not using Quaker State or Pennzoil it is an old wives tale that it gums up your engine. if that were the case Hendrick Motorsports would not be using Quaker State!

I can't speak for the oil, but with the gas it depends on the car. Cars are actually calibrated to run best on certain kinds of fuel. If your car is designed for the cheaper fuel, then it is actually better to buy the regular unleaded. If your car is designed for premium fuel, then you should get the premium fuel. I own a 2005 Honda Civic EX, and I was actually informed by the dealer and my mechanic that it is best to use the cheaper gas in it, because that was how it was designed. I won't call all this an absolute fact, but the dealer said it, and my mechanic confirmed it. That's good enough for me.

do you have a high compression engine in your car, or is it like a regular honda or a ford or chevy?

If you have a Lexus or a Mercedes or something high end, use the premium.
if it's just a normal car, hi-test does nothing for you except eat your money.

Like the poster above, I've always used Valvoline oil in my cars.

I run a high octane VP racing fuel in my 2 stroke dirt bike 250cc
And regular cheap gas in my car.

Synthetic oil is over rated

i dont think the gas matters unless you have a high performance vehicle. As for oil...my mechanic father always said for me to us conventional, but no quaker state or pennzoil cuz they gum up the engine. He always said valvoline.

i always get the plus nomatter where or cost... its usually cheaper because they put ethenol in it. but that doesnt stop them... anyways it burns cleaner and explodes with much more bang because of the ethenol. so it gives you more power which will give you better gas mileage
