it works as a cigarette lighter, but anything I buy that has a car charger with it, it doesn't work.... I thought if it worked as a cigarette lighter, it would work as a charger? Am I just being dumb or is there a simple answer to this?

So I was reading my mom's newspaper, and I saw an article about how you can make an instant car cooler by yourself. The direction says: "50cc of ethanol mixed with 450cc of purified water in a spray bottle". This is roughly translated from Mandarin. Because this was posted by a regular reader, and i searched on Google and found no supportive scientific result, I'm wondering if this method is plausible before i even drive off to a 99 cent store to buy the materials and try it. (It also said on the side that everything can be obtained at 99 Cent Market). So, can anyone tell me if this will actually work? I live in SoCal and I am kind of in a desperate need of a instant car cooler when i first enter my car (black interior). Any suggestion or comment is appreciated =D.

What are the pros and cons of installing mufflers like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200124763751&rd=1,1
on to my 95 toyota tercel. Would this get me in trouble with the cops (modified muffler)? Will it be too loud? can the silencer included fix that?

I am trying to teach my teen to drive and I would like to know what other parents have been doing to get their kids ready to drive. My teen is already taking lessons from a driving school but I would like some pointers from experienced people. For example, what should I cover in each lesson and how should I gradually ease her into getting comfortable with driving. If anyone could offer tips or websites that would help me, I would be very grateful.

OMG, what to choose? Ok, now, we don't want a super fast car and of course not a new one for an inexperience driver.
But, there is so many to choose from and we are looking for something safe, practical, not too geeky looking, and would be good for a first time driver.
This is for our son who is small in height. I believe he is only about 5'3" and weighs only 85lbs.
He is at the age of getting his license.
I looked at Honda Accords, but don't see a crash rating for it.
We are looking to ONLY spend about $1500. When he is more experienced, THEN he can get whatever he wants with his own money.
Any sites for "for sale by owner's"? I keep pulling up car dealers in my area.
Need input on car makes and safety.
THANKS!! :-)

I just want to know if autozone can check/ clear the code, I read somewere on another question awhile ago and it said they do check codes now I just called them and asked if they check codes and they tell me no, however the guy I talked to didnt really seem like he knew what a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) was so he said they dont check them . Can anyone verify has anyone taken their car to autozone and had them clear the check engine light or pull or clear any codes?

Ok, why do I still have bad gas mileage when I had a tune up, all filters changed, tires rotated, balanced, correct pressure and yet I still get 16 miles per gallon on the hwy?
It has 4WD but that is not used. Someone told me that just because of that, 4WD, it is a drag on the car.
My husband's 2004 Dodge Ram Hemi Sport V8, and it gets better mileage than me!
Could someone explain this to me?

I just moved to a rainy city after living my whole life in Colorado (used to driving on snow and dirt). The only tip I've received so far is that if your wipers are on, so should your headlights. Any advise/tips on driving in a downpour?

We want to travel from the U.S. West Coast to the East Coast this summer, and my daughter and I both want to drive. She is a licensed driver with a clean driving record and very good insurance. Are there any driveaway companies that will allow her to be one of the drivers, if I sign up in my name? (I also have a clean driving record and very good insurance.)
