We want to travel from the U.S. West Coast to the East Coast this summer, and my daughter and I both want to drive. She is a licensed driver with a clean driving record and very good insurance. Are there any driveaway companies that will allow her to be one of the drivers, if I sign up in my name? (I also have a clean driving record and very good insurance.)

Hi folks, and thanks for the answers!

I'm talking about what's called a "driveaway," not a rental car. In a driveaway, someone wants a car transported from one place to another, and you sign up to drive it for them. I read on the Internet you have to be at least 19, but haven't yet found any driveaway/transport companies that will allow a 19-year-old to drive. Just wondered if anyone else has any info or leads.

Thanks!

Lorraine

With most rental car companies in the us there minimum age is 25, but some will let younger people be a driver for an extra fee. It is kinda expensive though

I'm guessing you mean car rental agency. Usually they require drivers to be 21 regardless of insurance or driving record.....................................Of course they won't be in your back seat watching you, but if you get into a accident or a speeding ticket, you better be the one behind the wheel
