If the person you are talking to is also on a cell phone and has the spare electronic door opener?

you mean like on tv?
thats GM's OnStar service. it's built into certain GM and other makes, and also avalable as an option on most GM's

it's not someone on another cell phone with a garage door remote, sorry.

It worked on my wife's 95 lincoln. I haven't tried it on her VW.
