I want to hear what the majority of you think. Both initial and years down the road. Performance and reliability is what I am after here. Go ahead and turn it into a war between the two camps if you wish to do so. I am on the record for thinking that Harley puts out junk. Performance that matches a Yamaha Zuma scooter.( I know this since when ever I race a Harley or my buddy's scooter with my CBR the outcome is the same---W to the CBR) I work with a bunch of Harley guys and everyone of their bikes that is over a year old marks its spot with something that leaks out of it like an infected wound. Some may argue that they look better but that is subjective and to me they just look painful--painfully slow and unmanuverable. Please don't give me the arguement "how many 60 year old Jap bikes do you see on the road today because we all are intelegent enough to know that 60 years ago only a handful of Jap bikes were imported and the percentages of bikes still around are the same.

What is a good beginner bike for a first time motorcyclist? I am 5'6" and average body build. I'm looking at bikes, but not sure what I want. I lean more toward naked streets. I'm just looking for suggestions or opinions :) thanks!

I had the bike running fine yesterday. This morning my buddy comes over to go riding. I had started the bike before he got here and it ran fine. I turned it off. He shows up and in the act of starting it, opens the choke, turns the throttle, messes with the choke some more...gives it gas...then it starts hesitating to start and then all of a sudden "BACKFIRE" like a bomb. Then he keeps trying...messing with the choke....I start to smell gas...and BANG! again. So I kick speed racer off the bike. I let it sit for a few hours and tried again...it just backfired. I put the battery on the charger to recover a bit. I checked one of the plugs and it was soaked in gas. I'm not sure if I should replace them or not. They're pretty new as I had a service not too long ago. Anyone familiar with this situation?

I was just in the elevator with this guy whose bike stopped working right after he installed a new seat. I told him he probably knocked a battery connection loose or something. He said he checked all that and couldn't find anything, so he took it to the harley mechanic.

He finally got it back today. Among other things, they said his plugs were fouled and changed them and they cleaned and rejetted the carbs as well. All this probably cost at least $500, but he was happy his bike was running again. Any thoughts on all this?

Many times riders who don't know each other will fall into conversation with each other on a chance meeting. Gas stations, Dunkin Donuts, even red lights. Heard any good ones lately?

This morning's: "My mirror is an unusual place for a Ducatti."
