Squat down and look for a idle screw after it has warmed up and screw it in until desired idle speed is obtained.Yes 6000 RPMs is normal at 70 mph.

Check and see if the idle is set at the correct RPM, but most likely you just have a gummed up carb. Get a bottle of octane booster and put half of it in a full tank of gas. Run the bike until you need some more gas and repeat. I bet this will solve your problem.

Sounds like dirty carbs. I used Seafoam carb cleaner on mine and it helped. I put in an extra half oz more than what they tell you on the can. The idle adjust screw is directly under the rack of carbs.( Larger black screw) if you want to mess around with it. Had similar problem on mine.

Check and clean or replace your air filter. Your carbs may also need cleaning / adjustment.

The rpm is about right at that speed.

The RPM sound normal. Seafoam works great if your carbs are not too bad. You may also want to check and sync the carbs.
