My son has been collecting tools to start working on cars in the garage and has a few air tools. We were thinking about giving him a compressor for Christmas, but I don't want to rewire the garage for 220. Any suggestions?

Aside from Oil/Filter, Fluid, Brake Pad/Tire changes; can a car go a million miles with no other mechanical replacements?

Last night someone smashed my side mirrors. One of them is just broken on the mirror part and the body of the side mirror frame is good. I was wondering if I can just buy the mirror that goes inside, instead of buying a whole side mirror. Another thing is that my cars side mirrors arent electric, they are manual so it should be easier.

I just pulled into work and when I pulled into my parking space the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I instantly thought I had blown a brake line. Yes Im lucky I was parking when it happened and not on the highway. I looked underneath the truck and saw a puddle of fluid from me pumping the brakes a few times. I had a co-worker step on the brakes while I looked and there is a hissing sound and a good bit of fluid spraying out. Its coming from the rear of the truck between the back tires. Its still dark out and I cant see yet. Is there a cylinder back there or just a "T" or could a brake line have just split. Its coming out in a few streams so I was thinking some kind of gasket of "T". Any Ideas?

My car has been reversed into - making a nice big dent in the bonnet. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with it, its perfectly mechanically sound and runs well, and is fully serviced. But its 5 years old and has a lot of miles on the clock, its probably not worth any more than about £2-£2.5k, and its possible the repairs are going to cost more than this. I absolutely do not want the car written off as I'm emotionally attached to it (its the only car I've ever had from new), however if it is written off, how much do you get? The market value of the car? Or enough to buy a reasonable replacement with?

I have a T Reg Merc CLK, in which the electrochrome rear view mirror has got rather noticeable bubbles in it which do not dim like the rest of the mirror.

Is there a cure?
Thanks.

I have a 98 Honda Civic, and the temp gauge just sits on C, which I assume means that my engine is running cold. My check engine light came on a couple of days ago, but I couldn't see, hear, or find anything wrong; now, all of a sudden, my gauge won't move from the C. What damage can be done by continuing to drive my car? What can I do to fix the problem? What is the problem?

I have a 99 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4x4 with 104,000 miles. I just purchased it 8 months ago and have put about 10,000 on it. I bought it through a private seller in NY. A couple of months ago it started smoking through exhaust when I turned it on now it does it more and when it's riding. I took it to my mechanic and it's not overheating so it can't be a head gasket. Also, took it to Meineke and nothing wrong with exhaust, they said they didn't find any leaks. I'm so worried because my mechanic said it might be burning oil because it's needed extra oil before my regular oil change. So, he said the engine might have to be rebuilt. Can I do anything about this to make it better and can I pursue a case with seller for doing this to me? Thanks.

I drive a 95 Plymouth Neon and have been told that 10% alcohol blend gas can damage certain components in the fuel system? Is there any truth in this?

hey everyone i gotta 97 hilux 2.4 petrol. it all started when the head blew i got that done. but still found problem with coolant being pushed into overflow tank and gurgling sound after engine turned off. there was no change on temp gage but coolant was not sucking back into radiator. so i changed the thermostat and radiator which was shot. done a head test but came back ok and problem with coolant still arises. if the head wasnt done properly should the mechanic have to re do under insurance or am i screwed. i would be very appreciative if any one could give me any hints or comments what to do thanks

My fiance just had a new transmission put in his truck. Nothing appears to be wrong with the new transmission, but when he pushed on the truck it moved. It was in park. What could be the cause of this?

Sometimes my car starts right up but other times it will just crank over and not start? Would a loose battery connection be the cause of the car cranking over but not starting, or is it something else like the alternator or starter? Thanks
