(NOTICE: As with any SRS system, Serious injury can occur. Be certain you completely understand the system you are working on and how to properly disarm it)

You must first disarm the system. This is often done by disconnecting the battery and the fuse to the system, most of these systems will have a back up power source that can last up to 20 minutes, with the battery disconnected. You can then loosen the 4 retaining nuts on the back of the steering wheel. This will loosen the airbag assembly. Carefully lift the air bag and remove the wiring harness from the canister of the air bag. DO NOT Store the air bag with the padded side down, DO NOT store an air bag with out the canister storage plate installed. DO NOT transport an air bag with the padded side against your person or face, point outward or down, away from person or face. These devices are designed to deploy at speed in excess of 200MHP. These Devices can and may deploy while removed from a vehicle.

ok here is a question why do you need to remove when it is required to have it there. also if you need to have it removed you need to go to the dealership cause it has a explosive charge in it which can hurt you if you do it wrong. also if you remove the airbag you have to contact your ins company and tell thm you remove the safty device and that will change your ins for that truck. so it is best to leave it.
