Ok I own a 97 Honda Prelude. I woke up this morning and tried to start my car and nothing. The battery seems to be fine. I turn the key and nothing happens. The dash light lights up and all other things light headlights work. When i turn the key there is a slight noise that comes from the steering column. I have some car knowledge but cant see to find whats wrong. Can it be my ignition switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I will be installing a Detroit Locker in the rear diff. of my Excursion for better traction off road. I would really like to have true 4x4 and don't like the air lockers, cable operated lockers, etc. as much as the Detroit Lockers. The simplicity of the unit attracts me. How bad will be the on road performance with a front unit installed? Thank you in advance for any advice!

I was driving to my cottage about an hour away and when i got there, as i was going up a hill, a weird machine-gun like sound started from the front left of my car. Being very weird, i stopped the car. When I immideatly tried to restart the engine, the sound came up so i stopped. 10 minutes later it was back to normal, and i continued climbing the hill, and once all the way up, it restarted. So i did the same procedure and i got the same result.

The car is parked at my cottage ever since, what can it be?

I was stupid last night...went to put oil in my car after I'd been driving, so the engine was warm. I spilled some and it caught fire. My first reaction was to get flour to put the fire out. I did that, then later on after it had all cooled off, I sprayed the engine off with water to get the flour off. This morning i sprayed it off again, but it still smells like there's flour burning off, and was still smoking a little bit after I drove to work. Is this normal or is this something i need to be seriously concerned about?

I posted a question here about this once before. But now I have what the codes were for the light and why it is still sputtering. Auto Zone said the codes were- 1- #4 cylender misfire (I had the plugs & plug wired changed) could that be just a bad plug or wire that may have been bad when they were bought? 2- A clutch torque? Something about preventing my car from going into overdrive properly and that it affects my proffiency.

I have a 2001 jeep GC and the brake light does not work. My signal lights work and when backing up the light works fine. I've changed the bulb and even bought a new bulb holder because the old one had some corrosion and i have the same problem. Any ideas what could be the problem. Will i have to replace the entire lighting fixture to fix the problem?

My 1993 Buick Century was stolen the other day. It was recovered and towed. We went to pick it up at the tow yard, just to find that it wouldn't start. The little bastards had ripped the plastic off that was covering the steering column. The wires are all exposed and screwed up. The car won't go into park. It won't start with the keys. Apparently it can start with a screwdriver but we don't know how to do that. We tried to start it with the screw driver but we couldn't and now the power won't turn off. We're going to have to tow it to a mechanic but we have a limited supply of funds... Does anyone know what something like this might cost to repair??? Please... any opinions are greatly appreciated.....

I recently bought a classic 1989 mini city as my first car (yay go me) and i was driving her today and i think the handbrake and the clutch need doing, at times it is very hard to put into gear even wen my foot is flat to the floor on the clutch pedal? i also find it hard to get it out of reverse and need to turn off the engine to get it out. the car also stalls even if my foot is still pressing clutch wen i'm finding the cars bite?

Before this i noticed the handbrake was weak as the car always rolls even if im not pressing on the accelerate wen it is on reverse and also rolls on hill starts if i take my foot off the brake... if that makes sence??

how much would it cost roughly to fix these problems?? to expensive for a christmas present lol?

The battery on my 06 jeep grand cherokee went dead the other day, so I jump started it. The next day, the battery was dead again. So I jumped it a second time. This time, the water level indicator started to rise. The next morning, the battery was dead again. Could this be more than just a dead battery?

I have a 2008 model grand prix and noticed that there are these two really shallow dents/ dimples in the passenger door. They are both less than a dime in diameter, and no damage/ scratched paint. You almost have to be looking for these little dimples to see them.

This a a rental car that I have to bring back in a couple days and I'm wondering if wax or polish will sort of fill them in so they're not noticible. They're barely noticible now actually, you almost have to be looking at a certain angle to see them but they're right next to each other so it's a little noticible.

Unfortunately there are no paintless dent repair people around where I'm at so that's a no go.

Thanks for any info.

I bought one from ebay.... (ebay search*: ceramic car heater)

Can't include linky cause Y/A doesn't seem to post up qus with links in it anymore.

The reason for getting one was to get the car warmed up and help defrost windows for the first 10 minutes of driving, before the engine proper gets warmed up for car's own heating system to takeover. (then unplugging the ceramic heater unit)

However plugging it in for first time.. it doesn't seem to produce much heat unless your hand is close up to it (6 inches), and at a distance it feels cool air.

Even if it's cool at a distance... hot air rises I suppose so do you think they work for the job in Winter - or are they just a con?

If you have one can you tell me whether you find it useful?

I drive 2000 Chevy Impala, which has several minor problems. I want to take it to a Chevy dealer for a check-up and fix somewhat major problems only. The thing is the car is only worth a few grand, so I don't want to end up spending more than the value of the car to fix it. After all, I'm only going to drive it for a few more years.
How can I avoid unnecessary repairs and reduce repair cost?
