The battery on my 06 jeep grand cherokee went dead the other day, so I jump started it. The next day, the battery was dead again. So I jumped it a second time. This time, the water level indicator started to rise. The next morning, the battery was dead again. Could this be more than just a dead battery?

Take your vehicle down to your local national chain auto parts store. They will test the entire charging system with a load tester for free and they can tell you if the problem is the battery or the alternator. Don't let anyone scam you by hooking up a voltmeter to test the system.

It probably isn't a dead battery at all. It's probably the charging system, such as the alternator. In order for a battery to charge, it has to be fed a current by the engine which is "over voltage". A battery is 12 volts, the alternator puts in 14 volts when running. If the alternator is wearing out, or the belt that runs it is loose, then it may go down in voltage...you can buy a simple meter to at Schuck's to test if your battery is being charged.

Sounds as if it could be broken fan belt or dead alternator ut if it is an 06 it should still be under warranty. Take it back to the dealers garage and have themcheck it over.

going by what your saying I would say your battery has gone out on you and no longer has the cold cranking amps needed to start the vehicle if you've checked all your connections at the battery and the starter for loose terminals and cables

Don't waste your time, call your dealer. An 06 will be covered. They should take care of it at no charge.

Take it to the dealership - a car that's only a year or two old should still be covered by the warranty.
