I recently bought a classic 1989 mini city as my first car (yay go me) and i was driving her today and i think the handbrake and the clutch need doing, at times it is very hard to put into gear even wen my foot is flat to the floor on the clutch pedal? i also find it hard to get it out of reverse and need to turn off the engine to get it out. the car also stalls even if my foot is still pressing clutch wen i'm finding the cars bite?

Before this i noticed the handbrake was weak as the car always rolls even if im not pressing on the accelerate wen it is on reverse and also rolls on hill starts if i take my foot off the brake... if that makes sence??

how much would it cost roughly to fix these problems?? to expensive for a christmas present lol?

Look for the simple things first. It could be that the clutch master cylinder and/or the slave cylinder need replacing. Even more simple than that, the clutch system may be leaking fluid, which would result in the symptoms you have described, so get those checked first.

The handbrake may need nothing more than a simple adjustment.

If these checks fail to improve matters, then it would seem that your clutch needs replacing, and your rear brakes need renewing.
