i cant think of anything but brake fluid.

that shouldnt be a major problem costwise, but the loss of fluid might render your brakes useless... get fixed quick

Well, it could be brake fluid from a leaky pipe or faulty seal, in which case you're doing the right thing getting it looked at. It really depends what the problem is as to how much it might cost.

Silly question, I know, but there aren't any tomcats around where you are, are there? I only say this as I watched the neighbour's moggy wee on my wheel this morning and it does look very like a fluid leak! Blasted animal . . .

Sounds like brake fluid leakage. Get it fixed properly! Could also be a leak from the hub bearings - same answer.
Are you sure it is oil? I once traced a similar thing to a local cat!

it's most likely to be brake fluid- could be leaking drum, or leaking pipe. I had a similar problem a few years ago on my Astra- it turned out to be a little rubber pipe that connected the brake servo to the brake system that had perished cost me £5.00 replace it.

without seeing the vehicle, the problem you describe points to a wheel cylinder but as your vehicle probably has disc brakes all round in which case i would suggest that it is a split or perished brake hose. the information you have provided through question is not really enough to form a diagnosis.

sounds like a seal has split on the piston arm of the brakes. nothing major so dont get ripped off for new discs. replacement seals are the answer.. common fault

sounds like the brake piston has worn itself out and now is the cause of your leak.
