If you shift into reverse while moving forward (or vice versa) the car may stall but you shouldn't do it any damage.

The park position usually locks the transmission so the car won't roll while parked. So shifting into park while moving can damage the transmission. At a real slow speed it will just stop abruptly probably with no damage, A little faster it will make grinding or clicking noises while trying to engage Park.

That said if the car starts and runs in all the gears without making strange noises you probably did not do it any damage. Do not make a habit of doing this as you may not always be lucky.

Im not sure but I am willing to guess that a newer honda might have a computer program that control things like this. I have a 2006 silverado and had the automatic in 1st while towing up a hill. I got over the top of the hill and the transmission shifted into second by itself with the gear shift still in the 1st position. My guess is that even if you put it in reverse then the car might sense you are still going forward and not let the internals do anything. The older the car is the less chance you have of this being the case.

Automatic Reverse Parking

With my first car (an automatic), I used to do something called a "neutral drop", where you put it in neutral, rev'd the engine real high, and then shifted to drive. Eventually it cracked one of the gears in my transmission, resulting in a $2000 repair bill.

Doing it once or twice *probably* won't damage the vehicle too much. Doing it regularly will destroy your transmission.

depends on your speed. go too fast and you will ruin the transmission. and its never good to put a car into reverse, park, or drive, unless it is completely stopped. probably ok for now, but do it again, and your dad will beat you senseless.

it may not hurt it this time, but it can strip the park gear out of it,all it has for park is a little notch on it that catches,so their really easy to tear out if this is done, but if its alight now, then that means you didn't do any damage to it,probably nothing will happen over this, good luck with it.

probably not...there is a pin that engages to put the transmission into park, that pin wont engage if you are going fast, so its probably fine....if the gears still work, and you can park it on a hill without the handbrake, you should be fine.

Yes. That's a really good way to destroy the transmission. Calm down behind the wheel or be prepared to fork over a couple or 3 thousand for repairs.

It may - the parking paw and/or hub may break depending on speed. If everything works - you are lucky, and I suggest you don't do it again unless replacing the trans is on your "to do" list.
