My car has been making a weird noise, and it seems like its coming from the engine. While I drive, something goes "pcht!" randomly...and I've noticed my car is losing its potency. It feels different when I drive it now, and when I accelerate...it takes long for it to acquire speed. The sound resembles what you hear when you put air in your tires, and it only lasts about half a second each time...What could be the problem and what could be done? (The sound also seems to be coming from the front right side of the car, if you're sitting in the driver's seat)

I have a Mini Cooper 03 and took it to Carmax to get a trade in value. They told me the car shifts hard. 2 weeks ago the dealer inspected it(off warranty) and told me nothing. I want to sell the car but am not sure who I should believe- do I need a new transmission?

A while back, I replaced the headlight motor on my '88 firebird. After I did that, the radio, dome light, horn, door locks, and hatch lock stopped working. the door locks still work with the button on the alarm remote but not from inside the, but the rear hatch will not open without using the key (there is a button inside the car as well as on the remote).
when I replaced the headlight motor, I was an a$shole and forgot to disconnect the battery. when I pulled the top part of the motor out, the rod that spins the gears on the bottom touched the side of the motor case. It made a spark. Now, as I explained above, stuff stopped working on the car. I'm only looking into this now as I've been replacing a leaking head gasket so I put the electrical problem on the backburner. Any info would help as I don't know a whole lot about electrical systems.

Thanks in advance

My car is 1992 honda accord LX. it broke down about a week ago and is sitting in the tow truck company's yard collecting storage charge of about 500 dollars.

I just want to get rid of the car without paying the charges. what are my options? I'm in Torrance, CA. if you could introduce me to a junkyard that's willing to take my car without me paying for the storage charge would be great. Thank you.

All four doors, and the hatch, have seized up. The handle mechanism have all broken. Honda paid for the parts, but it still cost over $800 to fix 3 of the doors, and now they're having trouble again. Is this a common problem? Are there any recalls?

The coil on a Honda CR 80h has a primary spec of about 0.4 to 0.6 ohms, the secondary circuit should be 10.6 to about
15.4 k ohms. My primary resistance checks out, but the secondary, plug lead to negative lead on coil, reads only 4 k ohms. Not the required 10.6 minimum. So my question is, this clearly shows a malfunction, but what is it actually wrong with the circuit, it can't be a broken wire inside or i would have no reading at all, if the needle was to shoot up or down, to the 0 and beyond indicates closed circuit of course. I know that, but at a lesser reading, the 4 in this case I take it that there is a continuation although with less resistance to pass the current, (or it volts? ) through the circuit, than the expected higher resistance of 10 .6 +.
so what conditions would indicate the lesser reading, damage? deterioration?
any ideas?

I have a 1996 Buick LeSabre, custom edition. When I start the car the first time, the engine doesn't start. When I start the car the second time, the the engine revs up and the car shakes, makes weird noises (dananana....putt putt putt) but the engine is still running. The "check oil" and the "check engine" light comes on. Then when I go to press down on the brake (which is heavy) and switch gears...the car makes a loud boom noise and the engine shuts off. I have 110,888 miles on the car. I recently got an oil change, a new coil pad, and a new battery. I need help from an expert...I am low on cash. Does anyone know what is wrong with the car?

These pictures we're seeing on the news of cars up to the roof in water - would the engines ever work again or would they be complete right-offs?
