You can use most any 1980's small block as long as your mounts are the same. That old of car, you can use a 350 or a 400 small block . Some flywheel , balancer and starter combinations are different. But if you use what comes with the engine you are swapping into your car , you should be fine. With throttle body fuel injection, Use an engine from around the same year as your car for the wiring harness to work without much problem. It is not that complicated to swap engines in a Chevy, But you do have to find engines that are similar to what you have, unless you want to do a lot of modifications to the car or engine.

NO IT DOESNT. HAVE DONE THIS MOTOR SWAP MANY TIMES,CAR AND TRUCK ENGINE WILL SWAP,BUT NOT VAN WITHUOT SWAPING OIL PAN.DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SAME YEAR MOTER,YOUR SOURCE IS FULL OF IT.USING SAME YEAR OR OLDER ARE LESS COMPLICATED SWAPS.BUT DO WORK,2 DOOR FOUR DOOR DOESNT MATTER.BUT SWAPPING UP CAN GET COMPLICATED BECAUSE ,WIRING HARNESS WILL HAVE EXTRA WIRES.COULD EFFECT CHARGING,IGNITION.HOPE THIS HELPS

its supposed to be the same year or newer but on a vehicle that old who cares...it all depends on your local emissions laws
