I consider the driveshaft a link between two parts of the drivetrain. For warranty coverage it may not be covered...Most of the time warranty companies include phrases like "internally lubricated parts" and that doesn't include the driveshaft.

absolutely it connects the transmission output shaft to the yoke on the rear end of rear wheel drive vehicles
