I had to fix the chain, but once that was completed, the door only open halfway and stopped. I need to adjust it to open the right amount.

New Fan and Cowl, Properly Spaced. Replaced the Thermostat, plenty of fluid and no leaks. I put in a new water pump about 6 months ago.

Overheats (boiling) after short 10 minute drives. Takes longer to overheat while idling. Any Idea what it could be or ways to find out what it could be?

I just replaced the head gasket and intake valve seal. I had a stuck float valve and fixed that. I also replaced the muffler and muffler gasket. I set the valves at .005" when the piston was at past top dead center on the compression stroke when the piston drops 1/8" down from it's high point. Now the engine runs rough and backfires alot. This seems like a timing problem but I didn't change the valve timing, I didn't open the crankcase, and I don't see any way to change the spark timing. This engine looks as good as new. When I had the head off, the cylinder liner looked so good I could still see the original hone marks from the factory, there were no linear scuff marks on the liner that I could see. The valves weren't burned or pitted. I have a good spark and all filters and oil were changed. I'm stumped! Can anyone help?

* When on plane/flat road or sloping down I put the lever on neutral, as the car will keep going at the same speed or faster (coasting) without using petrol.
* I use that also when expecting to stop for a traffic light, few 100 metres ahead.
* I believe it also to relieve the motor by choosing neutral when stopping at traffic lights, instead of keeping the foot on the brake pedal.

The alternator is good we took it out and tested it. I was driving and the whole electical system shut down. Now the battery light is on and there is only 9-10 volts showing on the meter. both batteries test good.

I have a chevy 350 in a 78 camaro, I rebuilt the engine and put in the car, I timed the distributor with the crank, and now I am trying to figure out the advance/retard on the distributor, all I can get out of it is the carb spitting fuel back up, what could cause this? If I installed the cam wrong could that have caused it? do the lifters need to be tightened or loosened maybe? anythoughts would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Ok, I just bought a '99 VW GOlf GL. When I bought it, the gas gauge wasn't giving any reading - I knew that and bought it anyway although I don't know what the problem is. Actually, when i start the car it moves a little, but other than that the reading stays on empty. Also (and I don't know if this is involved) the check engine light came on recently so I got the code and it says that there is a large EVAP leak. I know it's not the gas cap, but I haven't had a chance to take it in yet. Can anyone tell me if these things may be related and or what the possibilities may be? Thanks so much, this is my first VW and I am kinda lost here.

What's the difference between regular and premium gas. Is premium gas just filter more to get more junk out?

And why do some cars only run on premium, regular just clogs their engines over time?

i bought a mazda protege for 100$ a month back. It is not running due to the battery therefor i bought a new battery and i found it has a hard time starting. It takes a while to gt it started,,and then when i do, if i dont keep my foot on the gas it stalls. I later found that the engine blew nd the old owners replaced it with a new one. My car is a 1997 and the engine that they had put in is from a 1998 protege. Could the ecu not be calibrated to the matching engine therefor not sending out proper information (ext fule/air mix ratio ect.) also wen i checked the plugs today i noticed their is oil on all of them..like drenched in oil and i was wondering they problem of this aswell.

Thanks alot

So i bought this truck for 200 bucks and it runs well. i think i need to redo the valve guide seals because it smokes a lot when first started. But from what i was told the check engine light turned on at 100,000 miles and the guy never got it off. It now has 117,000 miles and i need to get the light off to pass emission and safty inspection. I already tried disconnecting the battery and looked everywhere that i could for an answer online and have found no solution. I went to autozone and checker and they couldnt pull the codes. I think i might be able to manually pull them but cannot find the computer plug in. Anyway, any help would be great.

I have a 1965 Ford F-100 with the original 352. Up until today, I had the original oil bath breather on it. Today I put an air breather with a regular air filter on it. On the way home, I noticed that the idle was low and it didn't want to go in first gear. Kind of sputtered a lot. Tranning is in great shape. Is it because of the breather and the idle needs turned up a bit? Or is it something else?
