I have a 1965 Ford F-100 with the original 352. Up until today, I had the original oil bath breather on it. Today I put an air breather with a regular air filter on it. On the way home, I noticed that the idle was low and it didn't want to go in first gear. Kind of sputtered a lot. Tranning is in great shape. Is it because of the breather and the idle needs turned up a bit? Or is it something else?

Maybe you put to small of a filter on the truck, big block trucks breath deap need lots of airflow.

Oil bath filter housings create a slight vacuum, or air resistance as the air gets sucked through the oil into the carburator and causes more rich fuel mixture.

You may want to richen the air/fuel mixture a little by unscrewing the port screw 1/8 to 1/4 turn out.
Not more than that though.

Adjusting the idle won't fix the lean air/fuel mixture.

My guess would be that it is getting too much air with the new air filter. You will need to adjust your carb. The newer air filters are very efficient at letting more (clean) air into the engine.
