The alternator is good we took it out and tested it. I was driving and the whole electical system shut down. Now the battery light is on and there is only 9-10 volts showing on the meter. both batteries test good.

cuz its a ford...lol just kidding sorry im a diehard holden fan

if the alternator is good, and the batteries are fine that only leaves whats in between the two...the wiring. sounds like a short. take a good look under the hood and any areas where you recently had any rewiring done to see if there are any dodgy conections or wire touching that shouldnt be. if you cant see anything obvious then you are gona need someone who is handy with a multimeter to go over the wiring...which may take quite a while.
Also, someone who can read the fault codes off the computer chip might be able to pin point the exact location of the fault. I know holden computers will give a fault code that says exactly where the problem is, dunno if ford has the same stuff

but then, im just a chick what would i know.........

check your output wire that goes from your alternator to your battery,. most of the time the insulation comes off the wire and it gets fried from the heat if you are not sure just grab a volt meter and put one end at the output of the alternator and the other end at the battery you should get a reading from 12.85-13.45 if you get anything above 13.45 it's overcharging. most of the time is the wire that goes bad. specially Ford ive seen so many.
