I bought a 1986 GMC 1500 LB for 1900. The engine is almost brand spankin new 14,000 miles, 350 V8 5.0 liter. The tranny was rebuilt about 4 years ago and the truck has a pretty cool blue paint job with chips in it. I like the look of the front ends from 1982-1987 the square two lights. I really dont like long beds but for that price i couldnt pass it up. So this is my plan im gonna buy a 1974Chevy short bed with no engine or tranny and put the engine and tranny from the 86 in it. Then im gonna take the front end off the 86 and also put it on the 74. The only reason im doin this is because the smog, I hate it. Ill make a trailer out of the long bed and sell it then keep whatevers left for the 74.

I've read the manual, and there seems to be conflicting directions on this. I've got some Sta-bil to condition the gas. Also, if I don't have to drain it of gas, how much gas should I put in to condition?
Thanks in advance.

Valve timing on most automotive engines is such that both intake and exhaust valves are open longer than a full piston stroke.

i have a 93 corolla, today i checked the oil and it was slightly above low mark on dip stick. i believe that on last oil change they did not put the complete quantity. how ever no engine oil or check engine light come up and i completed the quantity.
there was no loud noise or smoke either.

i think i drove around 700 KM with low oil

i just want to know that if i should worry about any thing. as there was no check engine or check oil sign.

I just had an intake manifold ,thermostat, and water pump replaced about 3 weeks ago my car is still running hot . There is no visual leaks I have to add water/antifreeze once a week my ac or heater does not work. You can smell antifreeze outside the car.My car was running hot before I got intake done I thought my problem was solved. My next problem is when I crank up the car it does not start up right away I have to try about 3 or 4 times . My check engine light was on I was told the code read egr had that replaced and got a tune up and still the same problem. The check engine light has gone off . Can somebody please help me. The place where I had my repairs done is acting like they don't see a problem. I took my car back there 3 times and they just keep resetting the codes.

I work for an auto auction delivering cars and trucks to the auction and then to dealers after the auction. Some of these vehicles are not in great shape!

The other day, a coworker was driving a Subaru outback and rear ended another car. He claims that the brakes on the car worked well until the accident. In that instance, he claims the brakes "felt" normal in that the pedal did not go to the floor but did not even slow down the car.

If my thinking is correct, it is possible that the system malfunctioned and sensed that all four wheels were locked and released (or prevented) hydraulic pressure to the brake cylinders.

Do any of you certified mechanics out there have an experience with this?
