I just had an intake manifold ,thermostat, and water pump replaced about 3 weeks ago my car is still running hot . There is no visual leaks I have to add water/antifreeze once a week my ac or heater does not work. You can smell antifreeze outside the car.My car was running hot before I got intake done I thought my problem was solved. My next problem is when I crank up the car it does not start up right away I have to try about 3 or 4 times . My check engine light was on I was told the code read egr had that replaced and got a tune up and still the same problem. The check engine light has gone off . Can somebody please help me. The place where I had my repairs done is acting like they don't see a problem. I took my car back there 3 times and they just keep resetting the codes.

Maybe they missed a hose leak, left a hose untightened, left a hose off or the radiator is leaking. The antifreeze is going somewhere. I know this sounds expensive but now take it to a different place and let somebody else with a good reputation check it out. These people should have already been able to find the problem. I think some of the problem had to do with the egr valve and your exhaust system. They shouldn't have to keep resetting the codes. Was the old egr valve melted?

Head gasket is my guess. Check the oil for antifreeze and the antifreeze for oil. They will be mixing if your head's blown out. You'll probably need to machine the heads now and install a new gasket, because you've been letting the car get hot enough to burn fluids... you've probably warped the head. Good luck... that can be a pricey repair, but if you took your car in and said "find out why it's overheating" and they didn't, then you need to take it back and get your money back for the things that didn't need to be done. If you asked them flat-out to replace any of those other parts, then you can't complain.

I hate to tell you this but it sounds like you have a blown head gasket or the new intake gasket or water pump didnt seal. Your loosing antifreeze some where. Check your spark plugs if the end of them is really clean and smells like antifreeze then its your head gasket. Good luck

because your head gasket is leaking anti freeze into one or more of the cylinders you wont have a leak you can see but you will smell antifreeze outside of the car and the heater/defroster will not work
