Remove the negative first.
Install the negative last.
Keeps your wrench from shorting out if you touch the frame/body.

This is done as a free service with the price of the battery. If you have to do it yourself, then pull the black or neg off first, and then you can pull the red or positive off. Now you will have to remove the hold down bracket and pull the battery out and put the new one in. Replace the hol down bracket and hook the red cable back up and finally the black one.

When disconnecting always diconnect the neg. first and possitive last. When reconnecting connect pos. first neg last.
The reason for this prosedure is that you do not what to cause a high voltage spark to the positive side of your electrical system which is a direct link through your computer. The computers are not protected by high voltage surge protectors.
Always have all high voltage draw go to ground which will not effect any part of your electrical system.
Sincerely yours,
Fred M. Hunter

Negative first to disconnect and to reconnect the positive first, I read that on the Chilton's repair manual book and it is important because I did it the wrong way and since that day the MAP sensor started to malfunction.

Depending on the model you have determines how it will come out, but the basics is to turn all electric equipment off take the positive or red cable off then the negative or black cable . return in reverse order.

If you are getting a new battery, go to where you are buying it and they will change them out for you. If you already have another battery, just change it, as long as the car isn't running no juice.
