Saw an ad for a used car I have been looking for, mileage is approaching 100k. This ad said that the Head Gasket was replaced/fixed. Would it be safe to buy, or is a head gasket problem just the start of something else?

We are trying to spec a body built on an Ford F350 truck chassis with a diesel engine for a desert crossing. Does anyone know any negative effects (if any) on the engine if the truck's a/c is left running nightly while the engine is off. Any idea of fuel consumption for a/c with engine off.

I have a car that has been sitting 2 years. Obviously, it will need a new battery, tires and hoses? What other items should I be concerned about to get running again:

Hello, I have a 90 pontiac 6000LE 3.1 MPFI, I checked the voltage to my TPS and its reading 0.80 Volts at idle and 5.50 Volts at Wide open throttle.. Does this sound like a bad tps? I have been running extremely rich lately and losing alot of fuel ecomony along with pops out the exhaust with some fuel related smoke out the pipe. Curious if the TPS sounds like its bad
Thank you

Recently my friend and I were driving around and needed to fill up on gas. I was curious as to what Super Unleaded would do for my car and she said not to use it. She claimed that Super Unleaded is only for bigger trucks and will ruin my engine. Needless to say, I'm a little confused as I've heard that even though most cars can go on Unleaded, Super is just the Rolls Royce, if you will, of gasoline. I've heard it's better for your car but not mandatory to use in most cases and that using it wouldn't be detrimental. I have two different opinions and am curious to which one is correct...

On my 2002 Hyundai Elantra, I recently changed the air filter, engine oil/filter and transmission oil (manual). Only the air filter was DIY (FRAM filter). Afterwards, my MPG is down from 27 to 25 under same driving style (this seems small, but because the car automatically computes it, it's very noticeable). What could be the problem?

Hello and thanks for any help/tips I receive.

My question is how hard is it to install an exhaust (ie - Flowmaster) kit myself? I'm pretty handy with mechanical things...do you need regular tools and a jack or do you need special equipment? I'm looking at installing the exhaust kit into a 2003 Chevy S-10 Extreme. Is this something I should have a shop do? Or is this something a reasonably handy guy with extra time can do (me). Thanks for your opinions!

I have a 351C 2V in a 69 mustang. It willl start with just the turn of the key, you dont have to give it gas or anything sounds great, but when you put it in reverse or drive the idol goes way down and it dies unless you give it lost of gas. It has an automatic transmission. What might be wrong. I just bought the car and when i bought it was sitting for like 3 years all i did was replace the gas tank and put fresh gas in it and set the timing by hand & sound while in park. I have done the basic tune up and such

Okay, it's not as bad as it sounds. I was pulling up behind a friend at a meeting, well, between the two of us we were blocking off an entrance to a parkinglot that leads directly into the building, but it was well after hours and no one should have been using that entrance. Maybe ten seconds before I pulled up someone else had pulled around my friends car. I guess I didn't notice that they meant to back up into that parkinglot. I was honking my horn, so was another car. But she didn't here and backed into my car. The dent is big but not deep, it didn't crease but my car had an odd angle on it already, so I can't use the plunger. My boyfriend's going to try and take the door off to push it back out, but I was wondering if there was an article or a website that I could read over to see how hard this process is going to be. Well, really, any help would be great, thanks!

I have a 1987 Honda Accord (134,000 miles, automatic transmission, good condition) that needs a timing belt replacement.
My mechanic says its gonna cost me anywhere between $300 to $400. He has advised me not to spend that much since its such an old car. He is telling me to give it to the junkyard instead.
Is that the standard cost for this kind of job. How can I get to spend less? Any suggestions?

The starter motor in my VW Polo has died, I don't have the money for a brand new part (I'm a poor masters student) and was wondering whether any other cars shared the same starter motor so I could pick one up from a scrap yard. There aren't too many (none that I've found!!) 1.9D polos around. I'm fairly certain that it shares the same engine as the Mk III Golf 1.9 Diesel but without the turbo, can anyone confirm this, and are there any others??

Many thanks in advance

I have a 1995 Nissan Altima and it is stuck in park. I have tried pulling it and wiggling it and nothing works. It has the lock thing on it where you have to have your foot on the break to release it out of park. I have tried pushing the break to the floor, not pushing it and everywhere in between. Is there something I'm missing?

I dont think it is the brakes or rotors causing the problem after reading up. Its like u almost gotta pump or slam the brakes to get it to stop and its really weak. The brake pedal feels different when pushing it in too. What do you think it is? This is a 94 4x4 explorer, what do you think this would cost also?

I own a classic VW bug from 1975. I recently restored it and it looks brand new and works great. I'd like to know what could I do to add some power to it so it accelerates faster? I have tried octane booster and premium fuel, but any other ideas? Thanks!
