I have a 1995 Nissan Altima and it is stuck in park. I have tried pulling it and wiggling it and nothing works. It has the lock thing on it where you have to have your foot on the break to release it out of park. I have tried pushing the break to the floor, not pushing it and everywhere in between. Is there something I'm missing?

if you have parked on a hill, the locking mechanism that locks the transmission may be jammed due to the weight of the car. try and get some friends to push the car up the hill a little bit while your in it and try to take it out pf park then, if this is the problem, pushing up the hill will take some force off the locking pawl in the transmission and allow it to release. it will only have to go up hill less than a foot to release the pressure. if its this, to keep it from happening in the future, set your parking brake before you engage park and make sure that it holds the weight of the car so it dosent roll down and put pressure on the transmission as before. if the parking brake dosent hold the weight of the car, then it needs adjustment, cleaning or maybe new brake shoes. hope this helps.

I agree with the first answer. There should be a "release switch" on the shifter console. Some Nissans have an external obvious release, while others you have to take off a little cover and insert something into the slot, push down, and shift out of park.

More than likely, there's pressure on the steering wheel from your front tires.Turn your steering wheel hard to one side while trying to get it out of the park position. If that doesn't work, do the same thing turning the wheel the other way.

do your brake lights go on when pressing. if not it is a defective BOO switch (brake on/off) it sends the signal that the brake is being depressed and the car will not let you shift out of park unless it sees that signal. other than that their are few mechanical things that can happen

call the service department of your local nissan dealer and ask them how to release it so you can drive to them for repair.
you don't really have to take it there if it's easy to do and you don't mind the hassle everytime you want to go somewhere

It might be explained by a defective brake switch or even a blown fuse for the brake lights.
