Just a suggestion, but I drive for a living and as I live in UK (probably the wettest roads in Europe) my blades get a lot of wear and tear.

Try wipeing the rubber on the blade with vinegar. Yes, thats right, VINEGAR!!!

Believe me, it works. Usually, the reason for the wiper blades are smearing is due to a build of of traffic film (ie, grease) and vinegar is a natural de-greaser, so safe on the environment too.

Obviously, safety is paramount, so if you feel safer replacing the blades, then do so. but for now, give good old vinegar a try...

Good luck and safe motoring.

Blades could be worn - I once shagged a set in 300 winter miles on the motorway. However, try the vinegar trick first, wipe the blades and scrub the screen with it - any sort, including what you put on your chips. There's often a build-up of traffic film, consisting of diesel, oil, rubber, all sorts off the road, on the screen and screenwash doesn't shift it. Another problem is if you use a wash & wax to clean the car, the wax can get on the glass.

There may be oil, grease, or car polish on the screen and wipers. Try cleaning them both with meths, neat screenwash, or a car glass cleaner (NOT windowlene!) If that doesn't do it clean the glass again and fit new blades. If you're using a wax wash that may be the problem.

get a cloth and soak it in vinegar, run this down the blades. it helps to soften the rubber. next lightly clean your windows with some vinegar and newspaper. hey presto. its greasy windows and blades that are causing the streaking.
or it might be blades need replacing, try the free option first.

If you haven't changed them since last year-yes. But you don't need to change the whole wiper. You only need to buy a new refill for them. They usually come two in a pack. The autoparts salesperson will probably install them for free if you ask.
Good luck.

YES, you can replace the wiper's rubber at places like Halfords or even some Petrol garages.

you could buy new wipers, or you could first try a set of those little louvre things that fit on your wipers. they add a bit of pressure to assure the windscreen is wiped properly

I believe you need your wiper blades replacing and then you should be okay with a nice clear windshield.

Try cleaning them with vinegar first, might just be grease build up on them. If that dont work then change them.
