I have a 1990 2.3 liter Ford Ranger and I was thinking about putting 8.5mm wires and a new set of plugs in. What I'm thinking is that it will improve my combustion where it don't work as hard to send the piston down. Tell me what you think?

Can you start a car under the hood without having to bypass the neutral safety switch? Any cars that don't require you to bypass it?
What is the technical name for doing this?

My boyfriend has a ford fiesta zetec s diesel to teach people to drive in (06plate).
A couple of months ago we were on the way to my mums house when the engine mount broke, the engine fell down and was resting on the axel, the radiator was broken, pretty much the car needed rebuilding. Thankfully we weren't going that fast otherwise we could have been hurt?

I have a Nissan S13 180sx (Japanese import). It was in an accident around Christmas and I've only just gotten it back from the smash repairer. It turns out he hosed out my engine bay and accidentally wet the spark plug leads, so although the car started, it began misfiring and backfiring horribly (especially going up hills). I replaced the leads thinking the problem was solved, but it kept running badly. It got worse and worse as I was driving to work and eventually came to a stop on the side of the road, and would not start at all.
I then replaced the battery as I thought over a couple of months this might have gone flat, and it ran fine for about 1/2 hr worth of driving, before doing the same thing. I finally decided it MUST be the alternator, and replaced that yesterday, but it is still not starting as the new battery is now entirely flat.

Is it possible that the alternator I replaced it with is also broken -- or did I miss something else that it could obviously be?

Cheers guys

It comes on for 1-2 minutes when I start the engine and then goes off hence not going to a garage yet as there is no actual problem emerging but it is worrying. Any ideas what could be wrong?

I replaced all the fuel lines and fuel pump and fuel filter and all of the sensors had a complete tune up. I have had it @ 2 shops costing me about $ 1200 in labor and parts. the fuel pump has been replaced 6 times. this has been a on going problom with this truck. The fuel pump kicks in when it feels like it. I have tryed going to diffrent places for gas and it doesnt seem to make a diffrence. it seems like a connection to me but they have been all replaced. and each time it goes in the shop they check every thing . does any one have any ideas on whats going on?

I recently bought a 95 nissan pickup, and a month ago when I test drove it, the ac kicked in nice and cold. Now, a month later, the ac is blowing lukewarm. My dad seems to think there is a freon leak that the previous owner failed to mention to me, but I'm thinking maybe there just isn't any freon left. I'm no car guy, but does freon run out and do I need to refill it? Or is there probably a leak that I need to get fixed?

When I bought the truck, it needed various things done to it. Now, though, it's drivable except the transmission's really difficult (you can slide into certain gears at certain times, but then not find them the next time . . . . generally frustrating). The previous owner had converted the shifter from the column to the floor, so I wonder (am pretty sure) if they screwed up.

In addition to cost, I'd like to know what parts I should be looking for and where best to look.

Also, would it be easier to just return the shifter to the tree?

Thanks
