hi i've posted a question on this just earlier today, but i dont think the answeres i recieved were right. i have a 1999 DODGE DAKOTA 3.9L V6 AUTOMATIC TRANNY wih 90k.
there are absolutly no problems while the truck is ideling in park or neutral, but when i engauge it in reverse, drive, 2nd or 1st gear, a very annoying tingy ratteling sound comes from under the hood. it almost sounds as if something were loose and tinging around somehwere down there.
people are telling me its the heat shield, but arnt those the things that cover the headers? and wouldnt they rattle no matter what gear the tranny is in (if they were loose?)
i'm thinking its the timing chain & sprockets. is that a possibility? i've heard they go bad after about 50k on a lot of 3.9 dakotas.
PLEASE HELP!!! I'VE JUST RECENTLY UPGRADED ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THE TRUCK TO MAKE IT "SHOWY" I'M ONLY 17 BUT I KNOW A HELL OF A LOT ABOUT CARS BUT THIS ONE'S STUMPED ME! THE SOONER THE RESPONSE THE BETTER! THANKS GUYS!
