I just purchased a new truck a couple of weeks ago and I want to take off that metal emblem that the dealer puts so you know where it was purchased. How can I remove it without messing up the new paint?

As long as they didn't use screws to attach it then it should pull right off. If there is adhesive residue on it you can soak a paper towel with WD-40 and hold it on there for a minute or two then wipe the adhesive off. If that doesn't work then 3M makes a adhesive remover that body shops use and it works good to but costs more than WD-40. Good luck!

If its glued on use a hairdryer to soften the glue. Then goop off to remove the residue on the paint. I make it a point I don't want an emblem on a car or truck when I buy one.

Use waxed dental floss to get behind it...do not use anything metal or sharp as it WILL screw your paint up. Then use some adhesive remover like goo-gone to get the last bit of the 3M adhesive they use. Wipe it off with a paper towel. If there is still some there, use more goo-gone with paper towels. Just keep at it until it is all gone.

heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the glue on the back of the emblem and pull it off and clean any residue left with WD-40.

Hair dryer / heat gun and just peel it off. If your careful you can use a razor blade to start the peel.

Pull it off. I do that to all the new cars I buy. No use giving them free advertising.
