I have a 2000 ford explorer and when I left walmart last night the battery light was on and I had to use all my strength just to turn the wheel! I have never had this happen before. This morning the battery was dead and my husband tried to jump it and it wouldnt. It is no good. Can power steering not work because of a bad battery or what? Does anyone know what else could be wrong?

Ok so here's the deal... I'm trying to come up with a business plan for a class for a company that would be able to increase MPG in existing, used, on the road, cars...
My first idea is to try and find a method of converting a gasoline powered car to a hybrid electric/gasoline... Would it be any where near cost effective? How long before we'd have the technology to do so?
How about ways of converting cars to run on electric power or interchangeable battery packs or things like that? I know its possible, but would any normal not-environmentally concerned person ever do it?
I want to come up with an amazing business plan that will blow people's minds... I think a hybrid conversion would be amazing but is there any chance I could make it happen? Even if it is not yet entirely cost effective, is it feasible? Would it be helped with economies of scale i.e. the more conversions are done the cheaper they become?

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and for about 3-4 wks there has been a noise coming from the hatch when locking/unlockig the doors. They work fine but the noise sounds awful. It sounds as if a battery is dying or dragging. What can cause this and is it expensive to fix? Thanks in advance.

I purchased an extended warranty on my used vehicle last week and I was charged $999.00 for 2 years, unlimited mileage for "Bumper to bumper" coverage. Now, a different auto warranty company called me today and told me they lied to me because the warranty I purchased came with a list of covered components, not a list of exclusions, as bumper-to-bumper coverages usually come with components/parts not covered. He said by Federal law, I have 30 days to get a 100% refund. Is this true? Did my current warranty company lie to me? I was just asking before I called and cancelled my warranty. I have not signed any contract yet (which I think is a good thing).

My Blazer started to act really strange today. It had problems starting and then it would not shift out of 2nd gear. I pulled over and checked my trans. fluid. The car was almost bone dry. I just had my oil changed amost 1,000 miles ago and they said that they checked everything. I hope that putting more fluid in will help with the car not shifting. If you have any other ideas please let me know

It won't restart and my step dad said its the timing belt. that it skiped time or lost time or did something with time. It's a 91 chevy blazer 4.3 liter, 4wheel drive. every place I call they quote me like $500.00 is there any other thing that could be wrong that will be cheaper? or is there a cheper way of getting this timing thing fixed?

I have a 2000 Camaro and when I pull it out of the garage there is always oil on the floor. I have noticed a burnt smell coming from the heater vents when I turn the car off. The smell is hard to describe. I have never smelled anything like it before. Could the burnt smell have anything to do with the oil leak and why is it leaking oil? I have been told oil leaks are common among these cars. Is this true?
