If you have water (or antifreeze) in your oil,,, or the engine is not running smoothly and has alot of whitish colored smoke coming out of exhaust, also if coolant is low and or engine is overheating. These are the signs of a blown head gasket... Although it doesnt take "all" of them. Good luck, and also the gasket will be relatively cheap, the labor is what is going to cost you, so call around and get the best price...

Depending on the motor, it may only be a bad hose or an Intake gasket (GM is known for intake problems). Most bad head gaskets have the tendency to allow antifreeze INTO the combustion chamber. Rare occasions can allow coolant to spew out onto the motor.
Do not drive it because it may cause extreme engine temperature, if you head gasket is not bad...it WILL go bad.
If you can, have the cooling system pressure tested. This test can quickly show if it is a hose or something else.

That is a good sign. Bubbles in radiator. Compression test to see if different. Running crappy.Lots of steam in exhaust and antifreeze smell. Antifreeze or moisture in oil(that will look milky)

oil in the radiator or antifreeze in the oil are the first signs. If the antifreeze is coming out from between the head and block that wouldn't be good either.

Sounds more like a hose or a line than the head gasket. Might try checking the hoses, clamps and lines first for a small tear or leak.

If there is water in your oil. If your antifreeze is on the engine it is probably a leak in one of your radiator hoses. Check them while the engine is running for pin holes or loose hose clamps. Or possibly your thermostat housing is leaking.

if the head gasket has gone bad. your car won't start. or atleast that is what happened to my 240sx. try taking it into auto zone or advanced auto parts for the free diagnostic test. good luck. i was told for my car it would be close to $1000 to get fixed, but the actuall head gasket was linke not quite 10 it's self. and that is why my car is still sitting in ohio unused.

That sounds like a leak in your hose. If it was your head gasket, it would be in your engine, and you would know because of white smoke.
Check your hoses, thermostat housing, and freeze plugs. You might have a freeze plug cracked or popped.
