I have a 2000 Camaro and when I pull it out of the garage there is always oil on the floor. I have noticed a burnt smell coming from the heater vents when I turn the car off. The smell is hard to describe. I have never smelled anything like it before. Could the burnt smell have anything to do with the oil leak and why is it leaking oil? I have been told oil leaks are common among these cars. Is this true?

I think there can be no other answer except an oil leak.

I would put a newspaper underneath the car and see if you can identify the location from where it is leaking.

You're dealing with a 7 year old car, oil leaks are possible due to anything (tightening the seals too hard can cause cracks)

Good luck, and say hi to Vinnie at the garage.

It's common for leaks to start at the valve covers, and if it did leak at the valve covers it would run down onto the exhaust manifolds and cause the smell described, only someone looking at the engine could tell for sure where the leak is so take it to a garage to get it looked at. If it is the valve covers then it should be fairly cheap to fix.

Why it's leaking oil . Could be a lot of things. Causing your odor maybe. Best thing to do is get the car on a lift and check under it for the leak. No it's not common for them to leak.

oil leaks are common.try to look for the leak the bunrt smell could be coming from the oil dripping on the exhaust pipes ,as for the leak it could be from the valve covers, timing cover front seal oil pan, or rear main seal .you have to find the area the leak is in to figure out what to fix

well start by getting some simple green and pressure wash the engine. This way you can find the leak easy. it could be from the valve cover or sending unit. jack it up(be sure to use jack stands) and check under the car.

Intake gasket, oil sender, rear of oil pan, loose filter, valve cover gaskets, all are possibilities. Even loose oil galley plugs...v-6 or v-8? Is it trans fluid?....front pump seal, pan gasket, dipstick tube, selector shaft seal....

if the line it bent to the position it restricts the bypass off the fluid it ought to reason shift issues . the rigidity is off contained in the valve body or the tranmission should be operating to warm causing the fluid to foam... In both circumstances it is going to change the fluid rigidity . The rigidity is how the valve body contained in the trasmission is time-honored with of at the same time as to shift .. replace the line ..a minimum of replace the area it really is bent . if not you may dissipate the transmission.
