I just got a new battery and alternater 1 month ago. I get power when I put in the key but just get a clicking sound. There was no indication of problems recently. There is a rare occasion about once a month or less when it won't start. Once my security light came on. I just waited a little bit and when I went back to my car it started but I'm not sure if that is going to work this time.

I was driving my car yesterday and I rolled my window down and heard a rattling noise. It kind of sounded like I was dragging something behind my car and it was scraping along the road. I put my car in park and it kept doing it. I have to drive on the freeway for an hour tomorrow. Will it be safe to do that or should I take it to a mechanic today? It is a '98 Ford Escort.

I have a 2000 Plymouth Voyager. 112.000 miles, last week I took it to the mechanic to change the timing belt (it broke while driving). Today when I start the engine on, it start perfoming some kind of check. On the miles displays it showed "CHEC 1" and the temperature, MPH indicator and Gas indicator starting to move. Then it displaid "CHEC 2" and the PRND12 indicator, showed some squares moving, then It showed CHEC 3 and I don't remember what happend, then it showed Code 999. And that was it. I took it back to the mechanic, but he looks like he doesn't know for sure what is going on. He told me to wait and see if that happens again......do you guys have any clues of what might be happening?

Every 3 months, I replace my cat and muffler. The hydrocarbons keeps deterioting my cat and muffler. I have no clue what is causing this. My blazer has 197,000 miles. I've replaced the plugs and wires, with Bosch products. Replaced the EGR with an AC Delco. And still the same thing. My cat gets plugged up and doesn't accelerate well at all. The exhaust shop I go to, deny my warranties. I can only think of going straight pipe with my funds. This being my only vehicle. What causes this and should I go straight pipe before I junk this ride?

The car manufacturer's recommended air pressure is printed on a plate or sticker on the car and it's usually somewhere around 29 to 32 PSI. Why do the tire and oil-change places put in so much more air?

It's been going on for about three years, and even a good friend of mine who's a mechanic can't figure it out. My car doesn't visibly leak anti-freeze, but I'm having to put in at least 3/4's a jug a month! From what I can see there are no corroded hoses, and there's never a puddle of the stuff under my car either. Why is it doing this?

Hi, I have a Peugot 306 with power steering. Over the last couple of days I have noticed the steering has started to play up. When I am travelling at lowish speeds, i.e not on main roads, the steering seems to be pulling to the left, sort of juddering not just pulling with a constant force. Also, when I turn the wheel slowly left or right when I'm moving, it judders and pulls in that direction. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? At first I thought the wheel was pulling in both directions but now I think it might just be to the left. Could this be a problem with my tracking? Or is it more likely the power steering?
Thanks.

The side of my 97 Pathfinder was scratched by a metal 'guard arm' as I drove into a gated community. The scratch in the glass is rather deep. Is there a way to remove or have it be less noticable?

I hear it's better to refill your gastank at the halfway point (rather than at almost empty) because you'll get better gas mileage and the sediment at the bottom of the tank gets mixed around more so it's better for your engine. Is this true?
