If the Brake vacuum is leaking is the problem of this malfunction,
If I check the brake fluid, does it has to be low? or almost empty?
or is it just an air leak?

thank you..

I only repaired the front brakes so I don't know the condition on the rear. The car is a 99 Dodge Caravan. The driver's side was worn to metal and I had to replace the rotor but the passenger side was in pretty good shape.

Ok i have a 87 vw golf then when it sits like at red lights and stuff it has recently started to run hotter, although it never over heats we just bought it 5 months ago and had to add antifreeze twice, and can find no evidence of a leak no puddels underneath the car, or antifreeze on the engine, but the car sat for 3 years prior to us buying it.( guy was gonna fix it to race but bought audi instead) The car does have a funny smell to it but to me it smells more like gas then antifreeze. Also we have some problem getting it to start when it cold the guy we got it from said somthing aabout a temp. gage, could that have to do with it running hot some ppl replyed that it goud be somthing wrong with the headgasket like a pin whole size leak , any one know the cost of getting somthing like this fixed, is it even worth it on such an old car, i have heard it can be pricey, or any other ideas on what it could be?

The power switch on both sides only moves the front windows a few inches at a time. I have to wait over two minutes or so for it to move a couple inches more. Any thoughts?

my car, a Ford Escort 1993, will not shift out of "park". we checked transmission and engine oils, both were fine. we found that our brake fuse was blown, could this be the reason why the car won't shift out of park?

Okay, I have a 99 alero, and want to replace the wheel bearings myself. The dealership wants 315 for just one side, and I want to do both at the same time. Does anyone know of a site, or a book that I can buy to do this myself. OR, if any of you are kind enough to give me the "wheel bearings for dummies" version on here, you would help me tremendously.

I'll admit it. I've never added anti-freeze. There's always been a boyfriend or male family member around who volunteered. Well it's freezing cold and time for me to figure this out for myself. I know there are 2 major types of antifreeze-reg and dex-and I don't know which one I have in my car (because I am still struggling to get the overflow cap off that my brother put on super-tight) I bought Peak brand antifreeze that says it is for any car and can be added to any color of antifreeze so i should have no worries about putting in the wrong type, right? Also, do I have to mix anti-freeze and water 50/50 in a bucket and pour it in or is it okay to just pour in a pint of AF ad then a pint of water? Also, can I add this to my overflow tank or does it need to to straight in my radiator? Thanks in advance. Oh, and f you can recommend a basic car-care book (theSaturn manual isn't very informative) for girls like me who want to learn about this stuff, feel free to do that too.

I am slowly making my car completely red and black by adding and adjusting different things. It's a bright red pontiac grand prix GT with nice looking factory rims. The metal on them was obviously painted before because they have a metallic look to them. I would love to just buy some black rims on ebay, but I don't have much cash. Would I be able to paint my rims black without fearing that the paint will just chip off right away? If I could, then how could I go about it? What do I need to buy? What type of paint?

An answer to this is greatly appriciated......

Thanks : )

The transmission has been acting up for a year its the 3rd transmission since i have had it and i really like the van it just has transmission problems. I had a mechanic look at it but he couldnt figure anything else but get a new transmission. I dont want to get a new transmission and have it get messed up again.
What else could be Wrong with it?
Now it doesn't run at all it will start up but when you put it in drive and hit the gas it just revs up like its in neutral. then i tried putting it in reverse and it just revs up. If i put transmission fluid in it, when i go to try it with the transmission fluid it just spits it out on the ground really fast.
What can I do besides get a new car?
is there anything else that could be causing the transmission to get messed up so many times?

When Temp is about 45 degrees F or below, engine makes a knocking noise for a while then stops. I don't have this problem when the weather is warm. It doesn't seem serious but I'd rather get in front of the problem rather than have my engine break down. Thanks for your input

About a week ago i replaced my battery because the car lights were extremly low and the radio wasnt powering on and the car wouldnt ignite at all .. figured it was the battery being dead

Went to pep boys and bought a brand new enegizer

Worked fine for about 5 days .. now i was hooking up the tach and after i was complete with it about 6 mins later the lights in the car are once again really dim and the radio only powers on if no lights are on and such .. it cant need a new battery because this battery is only 5 days old .. i dont understand?

right now i disconnected the battery and im going to let it rest for a 1/2 hour and see if it does any good ...

My radiator leaks in my 89 Camaro and it needs to be replaced. To get mine replaced by mechanics/dealership it will cost a little more then $200, which includes the radiator and the labor. Would it be much cheaper if I just went and bought a radiator for my car and then just took it to a mechanic and only pay for the labor, or no? Can I replace it myself? Or would it be too hard? I know mechanics charge a lot for labor, but is there somewhere that would do it for cheap? (I live in Missouri) Thanks!

I noticed a musty smell about a few months ago, and found out the passenger side floor in my car was wet. So I used a power dryer to dry it up. Then used febreze to take away the smell. It seemed to have worked until this a.m. when I got in my car and noticed a musty smell, then checked the floor and it was wet. I have checked the door, the seal, all around the window and windshield but find no evidence of leakage. Someone told me it could be the a/c but I haven't used the a/c in ages, just the heater lately. I have had the car since new, so I have been the only owner. I used a wet/dry vac to suck up the excess water and put febreze on it again but I need to see what is making the floor wet. Also, I have only noticed it twice in a matter of 3-4 months, and this time it was raining a lot when it did happen, the first time I'm not sure because it was covered up with a heavy duty rubber floor mat. Help!!!

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer with 89,000 miles on it. I took it in for a belt issue which the dealer fixed for me for about $250. No problem. He then tells me that through out the cars inspection they found that the seals on the rear axles were leaking. So he tells me it will be about $500 to replace the seals. I'm ok with this even knowing that the seals cost about $2. They then come back to tell me that the noise coming from the back of the car is cased by the the ring and pinion being damaged because the seals were leaking. First off I don't remember any noise. Second this is now going to cost me $1500 dollars if I want it fixed.

My question is, How do I know that I am not being ripped off by the dealer. Should I fix the seals and top it off with fluid or does the rear end really need to be rebuilt with a new ring and pinion? How do I know what needs to really be done?
