my heater went out in my mazda can it be a thermastat just befor it went out it was smoking i would appreciate the answer to this how much does it cost for one?

the blower works but it blows cold air the smoke was under the hood

Most times they cost $3.-about $ 10.,check your water level.

it sounds like a heater core problem. depending if the smoke was inside your car or outside in the engine area. if the engine was smoking ,you could have overheated ,possible lack of coolant and blown your thermostat,maybe even a blown hose.see if your temperature gauge on your dash is running high.if not check your fuses.otherwise maybe heater blower motor bearings worn and caused smoking. should be more specific on problem,you would get a better answer.

It was probably steam under the hood. You might have a bad hose or radiator. You need to check the coolant level before you drive. If it's low your heater will stop working and your engine will burn up soon after. Don't trust the temp gauge. Once the water drops below the sensor they don't work right.

Smoking, on the inside... if it smelled like burnt electronics it could be the blower motor or switch. Does the blower run, but you get cold air? Or no air at all?
