It could be, it could be a million other things too though. The Check Engine Light is just a simple indicator that lights up when one or more of hundreds of things go wrong or are about to.

You can go to a place like Autozone and they can pull the code for the light and let you know exactly what the problem is for free, or take it to the dealership but they will likely charge you $.

You'll need to know the code the engine is putting out to know exactly what the problem is - no one here can tell you.

The light does not come on when a converter fails. A failed converter will cause the car to fail an emission test.
have the code scanned and it will tell you what component needs to be checked. What ever set the code may be the reason your cat failed. How do you know the cat is bad?

The check engine light comes on to warn you of an emissions system malfunction, so yes the light will come on if the catalytic converter is bad, it also comes on when the O2 sensors go bad.

not something to do with fluids. Flashing capacity you're misfiring and that's something that is extreme. A test of the code at this factor will merely inform you what cylinder is misfiring and that i guess there is greater suitable than one. Did you place decrease grade gas? That and the warmth could reason this. it may additionally be a bad gas filter out, undesirable spark plugs or undesirable injectors. occurs plenty by way of fact the climate starts to get warm out. i might pass have the motor vehicle regarded at by way of fact there are various obtainable motives and it may get costly changing factors that may not fix the situation. you will get fortunate even with the undeniable fact that it is appropriate to have it dealt with and end utilising if it keeps as misfiring can injury the engine genuinely.

a 94 is an obd1 system. there is only 1 oxygen sensor in that system, so the short answer to your question is no. if your car was a 96, the answer to your question would be yes. 96 and later are obd2 systems, therefore have multiple oxygen sensors. the ecm looks at and compares oxygen sensor voltages up and down stream of the cat(s), and therefore uses part(not all) of the sensor voltages outputs to the ecm to determine cat. converter efficiency. a 94 does not have this capability.
