Maintenance & Repairs - January 2007

I knew it was leaking and planned on replacing the seal but noe I cant even get it to move. I put more tranny fluid in it, and still nothing. And its not like its Pouring out, it doesnt even drip alot. Is the pump seal the only thing I have to replace.?

my light comes on and/or it's low at about 700 miles left of the 3000.

Noise coming from driver side, transmission side of motor. Can a starter gear cause this noise, but yet the noise disappears in reverse?

I am getting a new alternator this week but before then, the car is my only way to get to work...Can I still drive it for a couple days with a bad alternator?

S Reg astra Diesel brake pedal is very hard but the car still stop`s with a little bit more pressure on the pedal , here is the work i have done so far ( i am a fully qualified mechanic NVQ Level 3 for 10 year`s )
This is the low blow engine and i have Changed :
Servo
Master Cylinder
Brake disc`s
Brake pad`s
Brake fluid
Caliper`s and slave cylinder`s are not siezed .
Rear shoe`s are ok , drum`s are ok .
Brake pump has plenty of suction when the vacume pipe is removed .
This is the NONE ABS Model .
Renewed the pipe from the servo to the pump .
Everything is as it should be But The pedal still remains Very Hard .
The servo is in working order as it has been tested and there is good pressure when i have bled the brake system ?
ANY Help would be Welcome , Please no suggestion`s about taking it to a "proper" garage , i worked in a vauxhall dealership for 8 years but this has puzzled fitter`s who have over 80 years experience between them .

First, I know its still winter, but I'm bored... My A/C system sprong a leak last summer. Hoses look pretty good for a 15 year old car, they were probably replaced sometime before I got the car. I am thinking there is a leak in one of the many o-rings. System held charge for about 3 hours before compressor disengaged, so I am pretty sure it is a small leak. Anyways, any one know if A/C leak sealers work and hold for long?

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier and sometimes the signal light works other times it just stays illuminated without blinking. I thought it could be a fuse, relay or flasher bulb issue but I'm unable to fix it.

the car runs good it was fine last night but I went to start it this morning the light was on I let it run for a bit thought it would reset it self but it didn't so I checked the fluids and the trans fluid was a bit low well lets say quit a bit low I took it for a very quick drive down the street everything seems fine my gf took the car to work as far as I know she had no trouble she did not call so I dont know what the hell is going on. damn cars and that computer crap make you play a damn guess game well thanks for the help

There's been a gas smell inside my car. We already brought it to 2 mechanics and they saw nothing wrong with it. We even tried to cover up some opening under the hood where the gas smell might be leaking into the interior. Still didn't work. It's been this way for 2 years now. Will i die? (will it affect my performance at work without me noticing?)

I have a 2001 Saturn SL1. My problem is that the 'Saturn Security System' is causing the alarm to go off for no apparent reason. Last night, it went off while it was parked pretty much every time that a car passed our house. Is there any way to turn of the 'Saturn Security System' alarm without having to go back to the dealership and paying the cost of them doing it?

Well my ex-wifes alleged machenically inclined boyfriend ask me very nicely to jump start their 1993 Pontiac Grand Am.

After HE hooked up the cables the van wouldn't turn over at all. It seems he hooked the positive cable to the negative terminal vice-versa. Brilliant really.

I installed a new battery and everything is working as expected. Did he fry my old battery that way? Or what exactly does reversing the poles like that do??

I had my master cylider replaced because it was leaking,.I didn't think every thing was properly bled because 2 days later I went to drive the car and the brake pedal was going down to floor and barely stopping.So I took it to a professional to have my lines bled and they said the master cylinder was bad.They put a new one on and I'm still having this problem. I didn't have this problem until I had the leaky master cylinder replaced.What should I do?

Why is it that when one defrosts the windscreen of a car,(full heat) the A/C compressor kicks in. This happens to all the cars I have driven with Air Conditioning.

have ford transit camper van with new start up battery fitted with split charger for leisure battery its all working as it should except that my new battery is losing its charge after leaving the vehicle stand for a few days.took van on 100miles trip came home left it for 3 days went to start it and it was dead the leisure battery was fine was told i may have earth leakage?

I changed my oil today and saw that there is milky white sludge in oil filler cap (spout)..... there are no signs of water in oil pan after drained....also my coolant leaks while sitting over night , not while driving.... while driving it gets hot for one split second and then returns to normal, at the same time the oil light comes on.... HELP!!! PLEASE!!!
