the tansmission is like a hydrallic pump if seals go bad or if fluid gets old it losses power trans fluid serves three purpose and people really dont know that how many mile does it have how old is the car then compare you see preventitive maintainence helps when it is done to prevent this from happening you probably burned the trans and need it replaced you also thought at the garage they were trying to rip you off and now you ripped your self off by not listening i am one of the inspectors at one of these car care facillities who try to tell you about the care of you car to save you money the trick is dont plan you just get it done before it does get worse you see i learned that the dealers want you to buy new cars i dont did you know that GM uses a faulty cooling system ie DEX cool or known as orange death to a lot of garages . i am not trying to be mean just informative and if money is the issue they also have financing or its just time to buy a toyota camry and take care of it the right way you see a cadillac is a high maint. vehicle that is why they are so expensive
if it has a northstar engine get rid of it and move on iam sorry to say this but it is true

By continuing to run it with the leak, you have probably run the front pump dry and ruined it, which is why it won't move now. Then it might have been a simple trip and a seal replaced. Now, call the tow truck and perhaps be looking at a rebuilt transmission. Only the transmission shop will be able to tell you exactly what you need.

not anymore, sounds like you will be replacing more parts as well, the trans cannot operate without a pump, it is the heart of the system, also operating critical components, shift valves,
lubrication etc.

My 78 trans am does the same thing when I let it sit for awhile.

Prob. not. But the only way you are going to be able to tell is to drop the tran. and check it out.

sorry..

my guess is that the screen filter is clogged, so no fluid is flowing.
