well you could have a couple of things going on. First, in the cold of winter, sweat can form inside the engine and leave a milky residue under the oil cap. second your small leak when it sits overnight is what is called a cold leak. could be something as simple as a loose hose clamp, check all hoses and clamps. but you saying that it gets hot for a second and then returns to normal is the signs of a minimal head gasket leak, where coolant is getting into the cylinders, The oil light coming on could be a loss of oil pressure, may or may not be related to your coolant leak or engine getting hot. With what you have, it is hard to say what the problem is unless I was able to do a diagnosis myself. I would take it to a reputable mechanic .

Sometimes if you are in a cold enviroment this will happen, condinsation in the oil filler cap. But I think there is more to it, in your situation. I have a few question for you. How do you know that your coolent leaks over night? Can you see the coolent on the ground, or is your coolent resevior low the only sigh of leakage? Does your engine run a little rough in the mornings, untill it gets warmed up? Here is an answer for the teputure getting hot for just a split second while driving. In the mornings when you first start the engine your thermostat is closed. when your thermostat is closed your engine is warming up the water inside the engine, not you radiator. Now, stay with me here, the water inside your radiator is cold and your engine water is hot now, the themostat has hot water on one side and cold water on the other side. When the thermostat opens for the very first time in the mornings, it will run a higher than normal temputure untill the radiator coolent has warmed up a little, and like you said it will do this just for a split second, and then run normal. In the mornings like I said earlier you have cold coolant on one side of the thermostat and hot coolant on the other, so it will take a little more heat to open the thermostat when first cranked. When the water in the radiator has had a chance to warm up a little, now you have warm coolant on one side of the thermostat and hot coolant on the other, and now it does not take as heat to open the thermostat and your engine is running normal. My veihicle does this every morning when the coolant in the radiator is at its coldest.

well, i suggest changing the oil in liek a week or two, if the white sludge is still there than take the car to a mechanics, also for the coolant, there must be a little leak somewhere, at your local auto parts store you should be able to get a oil like substance that will run through your coolant system and cover any leaks, that should fix your problem.

It sounds like your coolant is leaking into your crankcase....by the way of a leaking head gasket.....Get it fixed before your engine completely dies.....
